This report is a work done on seeds and food to nine communities in the Mayangna Sauni Arungka territory, located 16 km from the municipality of the Bonanza Caribbean coast region of Nicaragua.

After the passage of hurricanes Eta and Iota in the year 2021 and then the passage of hurricane Julia in 2022, entire communities were in a situation of food insecurity for which the women’s organization Mayangna went to Deed and Truth Ministries to with this need, and the response was positive.

Therefore, with the help of this Christian ministry, some families have benefited with seeds and food for the women of the Sauni Arungka territory through the board of directors Mayakat.

The total population in the 2005 census is 4750, of which 58 percent of the population is female. Therefore, the selection in this micro project was especially selected for women and some elderly sick men without any protection.

JUSTIFICATION.

The most vulnerable of the Mayangna population are pregnant and lactating women, elderly women, children, orphans, and sick people. Cancer and other diseases are caused by cyanide in the river Tungkih, the main source of water of the Mayangna population of the Sauni Arungka territory.

There are many needs in the population, and Deed and Truth Ministries has collaborated with us to bring an answer to the Mayangna people and prioritizing the production of food for family consumption.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:

Contribute in the production of food after the hurricane to nine communities of 2022.

ACTIVITIES TO BE CARRIED OUT:

  1. Making a work plan for the execution of the project with the board of directors and Mayakat communal commissions.
  2. Selection of producers of corn and bean seeds.
  3. Food packaging by the board of directors of Mayakat.

Results.

  • Deliver 90 food packages to the families of the Sauni Arungka territory.
  • Benefit 25 producers with maize seed

METHODOLOGY OF EXECUTION:

The organization Mayakat was planned with its administrator for execution of this project and for selection of producers.

Then, we visited house to house to confirm the preparation of plots for planting seed for the project to be effective.

CONCLUSIONS.

With this project, we reached the Mayangna population, benefiting 25 people involved in this production period.
