Nicaragua Bible Project Update April 2026

Bibles to the Miskitos

In a recent coordinated effort between Deed & Truth Ministries, Christian Aid Ministries (CAM), and MZL, a Bible and literature distribution was carried out in the remote regions of Nicaragua and Honduras. Kevin Steiner and his daughter Gwen spent a week navigating treacherous rivers and rough back roads to place books directly into the hands of families. Many children and adults received copies of CAM’s 101 Favorite Bible Stories in their own indigenous Miskito language. For many, it was the first time they had ever owned a high-quality book.

Here is a brief summary from Kevin: Some of the most rewarding moments were the personal encounters. I met a man who had previously seen one of the books and had wished for one but did not know how to obtain it—now we were able to place one directly into his hands. Another grandfather had carefully hidden a copy from his grandchildren so it would not be damaged, occasionally bringing it out to read to them. He was overjoyed that each child could now have their own book. Though the journey was physically draining and filled with challenges—bad roads, heavy rain, armed locals in parts of Honduras, and constant travel—we all agreed it was a blessed trip. Seeing 4,000 books placed directly into the hands of families was a privilege. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported the effort, and my prayer is that these books will help draw the hearts of the Miskito people closer to God.
